I just purchased this banjo. i have had multiple banjo's (customs, Deering, Pisgah, Gold Tone) and the Deering Vega Vintage Star was my favorite as an all around banjo but after playing this banjo i am so impressed with the clawgrass2, its beautiful, easy to play, and sounds so good! as a newer player i just wish i could do it justice like Jens Kruger does. LOL

Because I did not know all of this, I bought a high crown head for my banjo with a notched tensionhoop and (ofcourse) it doesn't fit. The hoop towers way too high above the head surface. You didn't mention the "low crown" heads. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely love my Goodtime Two, ordered from Deering. Can’t wait to use it in the classroom. The care put into the construction of banjo (and even the shipping and packaging) is amazing. The warmth in the tone is inspiring. I’m still relatively new at it and this banjo will keep me inspired for years to come. Can’t wait to take a step up once I get more proficient.

My first instrument was the mandolin, and these are the exact same chords I first learned for that. I guess it makes sense considering it's a similar tuning

bought it like 6 years ago maybe. I picked up, and didn't really practice, and then the 5th tuning peg went loose, so I had to glue it cause no matter what I used, friction didn't work. It feel really good playing, and the sound is incredible compared to other banjos.

Your right. Has its on voice. I ve looked at Seeder, Smakula, and Cedar Mountain banjos. Nothing sounds as good as this White Oak..iThis is by recording audio not hands on. But I’ve gotta get hands on.

Please note: this is American tuning. It is not the Irish tuning. It does make a difference depending in the type of music you are playing.

Absolutely nuts

I've had this banjo for 10 years and it has travelled all over the USA with me and even gone overseas to Asia. It's been in the Northeast through below 0 winters and humid summers, the Southwest through 114 degree weather and now lives on the coast in the Pacific Northwest and it hasn't changed a bit. The head is just a bit dirtier but it plays just as well. I used to work in a music store and we sold garbage banjos from brands I won't bother naming. They were only $100 or so cheaper than this one but it felt like a $1000+ difference. I'm seriously very thankful to Deering for making such a quality instrument at a good, entry level price point. It's rare to see.
